This special is not based on the novel series Gundam Wing Frozen Teardrop so the animators took a different approach than what others did on the other Gundam stuff. Instead of animating the whole story, they had stills of scenes with the dialogue over it. Its an interesting choice, but something i wouldn't have done. i would have preferred to see this animated completely the art itself was pretty good. the scenery was one of the strongest points the sound was by far my favorite. its the strongest asset the special has considering that it relies so much on it because the scenes arent animatedout. the voice acting is great, the music was fitting and sounded wonderful, and the sound effects really emulated what was supposed to be happening in the scenes. they did a good job.

This took a very interesting take to show some of the events of Frozen Teardrop. It is stills with sound and dialogue recorded over them with some minimal animation thrown in. I actually enjoyed the way it was presented even though at times it was sort of hard to follow. The original cast even returns for their voice overs Part of me wants to believe that this was an attempt at testing the waters for a full length anime series. However, for one reason or another, unfortunately didn't pan out and thus they bundled it with the Gundam Wing Blu-rays for those who wantedto see it. Perhaps one day we will be given the full length Frozen Teardrop anime we'd like to see but only time will tell. Still a good watch even though it very much leaves you wanting so much more from it.
