Before watching this, know that this is a gag comedy based on a manhua, comprised of short 3-5 minute episodes and lots of 4th wall breaks. So if you're here for heavy plot and character development you should look elsewhere. But if this sounds like something up your alley, then read ahead. This donghua (chinese anime) is quite enjoyable, and it doesn't need the criteria of typical plot/character-focus anime to work. There's not a lot of action, and the action that does occur is mostly for laughs. This is more Slice of Life in a historical/martial arts setting featuring the daily shenanigans of a senior disciplewho just wants to live peacefully as a NPC. It's entertaining to watch because it's easy to follow, funny, and unlike other anime out there. The art and sound is not excellent, but the style matches the show's atmosphere and the quality is good enough to not lessen the viewers' enjoyment. The recurring characters all have eccentric personalities that add to the comedy, and MC is a master troll who has the classic unwilling Isekai traits and misfortune. There is an overarching storyline, but you don't realize there is one since it doesn't connect until the very last episode. Until then, the show will seem to have a new story arc every other episode that has little to no relation to each other, which is fine because each arc wraps up nicely with no plot holes (mostly because there's barely any plot to begin with lol). Overall, it's a refreshing 1.5 hour long show to watch if you're looking for casual comedy. Story: 7; Art: 7; Sound: 7; Character: 7; Enjoyment: 8 PS: 2nd season unclear due to animation team and script issues.
