Bai Yao Pu Season 2 picks up right where the first season left off. Tao Yao, Liu, and Moya continue solving the problems of both spirits and humans while their journey to find the Manual of Hundred Demons officially begins. Overall, this season follows a very similar formula to the first one: Tao Yao helps resolve various conflicts, usually while acting like she doesn't really want to. If you enjoyed the first season, you'll most likely enjoy this one as well. It's a slow paced travel show that has spirits, folklore, and occasionally emotional stories. One of the biggest differences from the first season is thenumber of stories and their length. This season contains only three major stories across twelve episodes, whereas the first season they were usually two or three episodes. Personally, I enjoyed the stories a little less because of their length. At times, it felt like certain characters behaved in ways that existed only to extend the episode rather than because it made sense for the story. The stories are still enjoyable overall, but I do think some parts of the writing could have been improved. Another important thing to mention is that If you looking for major progression regarding the main cast you won't find much of it here. We learn very little new information about the characters. If you're hoping for answers about the Manual of Hundred Demons, who Tao Yao really is, or how the group came together, this season won't provide many. There are still a couple answers, so it's not completely devoid of progression, but if you're expecting quick answers, this probably isn't the series for you. Bai Yao Pu remains a slow, journey focused story. One thing I did appreciate this season is that Liu and Moya receive more attention. It was nice to see them get more focus compared to the first season. Overall, if you enjoyed the first season, I would definitely recommend continuing. It's a relaxing series, and with the variety of stories presented, most viewers will probably find at least one that they enjoy. The art style and animation haven't changed much from the first season.ITs enjoyable to watch.
