Synopsis

Said to be humanity's natural enemy, formidable dragons that belong to an ancient bloodline roam the world. Only two ways prove effective to kill a dragon: freezing their blood with silverine—an aura that comes from silver weapons—or letting their bodies be incinerated by sunlight. Young hunter prodigy Leonica is accompanied by her close friend Ragna, who appears to lack the skills necessary in their profession. Moreover, many shun Ragna, considering him cursed because dragons always seem to attack him and slaughter his close ones. Nevertheless, Leonica sees potential in Ragna and gladly partners up with him. Likewise, Ragna feels certain that Leonica is immune to his misfortune thanks to her incredible strength. His confidence is shaken, however, when Ragna dreams of Leonica's death, believing this to be a prophecy. As the destined day arrives, he comes face-to-face with his future self, who bestows him enormous power and memories from the future to ensure Leonica's safety. In order to succeed, Ragna must join forces with a mysterious figure known as Crimson and eradicate all dragons for good. [Written by MAL Rewrite]

Ragna Crimson is an anime with a mundane introduction, but after about 3 episodes, I was left astonished, captivated by the dragons of this anime and characters, but what managed to captivate me the most was... my dear Crimson. Is is the kind of anime with a main character who starts off very weak and evolves, but besides that, Ragna also has a purpose from the beginning for which he fights. In my opinion, Ragna Crimson has a quite good and detailed world, from desolate places and ruined cities to ancient temples or feudal kingdoms, it's like a Kinder egg with surprises. The author hasintegrated politics quite well with magic and mythology, which are quite important aspects in Ragna Crimson, and offers a broader perspective on the world. The characters in Ragna Crimson are VERY STRONG, why do I say that? For me, it was enough to see Crimson wielding a weapon around and it made me believe that she's quite strong and carries the entire series, just kidding... the characters are quite well-developed, and they have their own motivations or aspirations. Ragna has several "inner" struggles, so to speak, and constantly matures. His adventure, it's not just about fighting dragons, but he also has a struggle with his own nature and the questions that plague him. On the other hand, Crimson, the other protagonist, is a mysterious character who gives off a unique aura. Her relationship with Ragna is a very complex and dynamic one. The rest of the characters are interesting too, from loyal allies to charismatic enemies, each character has something unique. The animation in Ragna Crimson is not very special, it's a 6-7 of 10 (10/10 , like Bleach TYBW/Fate), but the landscapes and fight scenes are very well done, there are a few specific moments for an MC that are like masterpieces. The soundtrack is impressive, and there are also very good orchestral pieces alongside the classic ones heard in any anime, the voice actors did wonderfully, and I felt every emotion they tried to convey. In my opinion, Ragna Crimson is an anime worth watching, for a seasoned viewer like me, it was something new because it has enough "troll" moments that pleasantly surprised me, and I didn't saw the same reheated soup in a universe with dragons

TLDR: Potential wasted. The show starts building a decent enough world but then goes sideways really fast. Watching this happen for 24 episodes was an exercise in patience rather than an enjoyable escape. Off the bat, characters are introduced but are either killed or never heard from again. The MC, Ragna, gets way too OP with a grandfather paradox. He is passionate about killing dracu...Dragons, for perfectly acceptable reasons, but was well mannered and sensible right up until he got OP. At which point, he became an annoying, irrational twat. Just like a lot of Japanese anime, Ragna defeats all his enemies in a samurai stancewhile screaming with willpower as lightning bolts shoot out of his ass. God, it's cliche and irritating. Apparently, his power came at the cost of brain cells. Imagine giving a 6-year-old superpowers; that's Ragna. At least he is juxtaposed with Crimson; possibly the shows only saving grace. Cold, calculating, and forward-thinking. Ragan is willing to kill off the whole squad while charging in for a 1% chance of victory. Crimson will sacrifice tens of thousands for a 99% chance of victory with a good plan. Somehow this duo is a team, and only through the power of plot armour does the show progress. But why do they want to kill mythical anthro metamorphic beings that are weak to silver and sunlight? Because the author thought vampires x dragons x genocidal religious cult was a good idea. Does your brain hurt yet? No? Well, mine does. Throw in a couple other cults, human x dragon hybrids, and magicians, all evolving from the collapse of what appears to be a technology-driven society not unlike ours. So, there are a lot of good ideas in the mix, but they are wasted on a piss poor story with mostly recycled characters. The sound, animation, and voice acting were more than acceptable, but nothing spectacular. Pacing was all over the place. This anime seemed to be stitched together by an edgelord high schooler with too much free time.
