This is a re-edit and compilation of the YouTube series Milky Subway: The Galactic Limited Express, with additional scenes featuring the cops. It also explicitly explained Makina's origin story and seeding the surprise transformation at the ending of the movie. I also like how Makina-centric it is this time, instead of having to Chiharu whine most of the time. Personally, I prefer watching it as a series, because I get plenty of opportunities to listen to the retro vibe of the series intro song. However, seeing the content without the episodic ending credits is a treat. But I understand that it may be too much topay for the cinematic experience of a series available for free on YouTube. It is on Netflix though, so watch it while it's still there for the whole series without interruptions.

This film could be described as a recap of the original series, but it’s more of a compilation of the series combined with new scenes involving the police that weren’t in the original show. I’m glad this movie was made, since I unfortunately watched the original series on YouTube without subtitles, but I still enjoyed it. I only recently found out that this movie has an official Czech translation as well as a Czech dub, which I didn’t expect and was very pleased to hear. I definitely recommend it; it’s a great experience, though it’s a shame the series itself was so short—it definitely deservesmore. As for the dubbing, I tried that too, but the original is still better. I’d recommend the original to those who have trouble with the subtitle speed and don’t want to keep pressing the spacebar every few seconds.
