A perfectly serviceable OVA that you can easily skip. It's a pair of bonus episodes with a standalone plot that you can tack on to the end of a watch through of the original series. These are fine, just nothing impressive. The plot gets the job done, but it isn't particularly memorable. The visuals are noticeably better here compared to the TV series, especially in the background work, but it isn't a massive leap. Most of the value is just seeing the whole cast pop back up again. Which is important for a fan in 1989 just after the original series ended, but anyone reading thisreview has access to a backlog of over a hundred episodes that came out since, featuring all the same characters (most of them, anyways, sorry to all the fans of Himiko's dad). I doubt missing these two random ones has much of an impact. If you'd need to find and import a DVD or VHS to watch it, I can promise it isn't worth the cost or hassle. Now if you already have the episodes right in front of you and you just finished the original series, they're perfectly fine and you'll be done in less than an hour, so it's an easy commitment. But for everyone else, probably best to ignore this and jump straight into 2 or Chou.
